DNR Ranch at Rand Creek – Wyoming

With the mighty Rocky Mountains as the backdrop, and where the past is always present, DNR Ranch invites you to come and discover the wonder and amazement that is Wyoming.

This is the true west, a place where cowboy culture is still the way of life. The country is rough and rugged, the people are kind and genuine, and the opportunities for adventure and excitement are endless.

DNR Ranch at Rand Creek is located in the heart of what Theodore Roosevelt proclaimed ‘the most scenic 50 miles in America’. Named after Dollie -N- Ric Horst, the owners, and Rand Creek, which runs through the property, DNR Ranch is a small, family owned and operated guest ranch facility located 23 miles west of historic Cody, Wyoming and 27 miles east of Yellowstone National Park.

The Ranch’s central location puts you between two of Wyoming’s most popular vacation spots. Many of the guests use the Ranch as a convenient “base camp” to explore the entire northwest Wyoming region.

Historic Cody, Wyoming is a friendly and unique frontier town with lots of things to do. There are some pretty nice local attractions including Old Trail Town, Buffalo Bill Historical Center, the Cody Nite Rodeo, and Whitewater Rafting. The Cody Nite Rodeo is a very exciting 7-event rodeo that takes place at summer evenings (June through August) at 8:30.

This is definitely a “must see” as is, of course, Yellowstone National Park. The name already brings visions of unmatched scenery, wild animals, unforgettable waterfalls, and snow-capped mountains. Yellowstone National Park is truly a natural wonder that everyone must have visited.

DNR Ranch’s main lodge was built way back in 1905. It is actually the oldest structure on the old Yellowstone Highway and the original homestead of Elizabeth and Dwight Hollister. Originally, the ranch was the halfway stop between Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, and the town of Cody.

The site’s natural landmarks are the “China Wall” and the famous “leaning tree.” Many notable people stayed at the ranch on their way West, including Buffalo Bill Cody himself!

Whether choose to take a trail ride on your trusty companion, take a riding lesson in the arena, fish the blue ribbon streams in clean mountain air, hike the sage brush covered foothills, see the sites and wildlife in Yellowstone, raft the crystal clear winding rivers, shop historic Cody, attend the famous Cody Nite Rodeo, unwind at the campfire, or just plain relax in your rocking chair on the front porch of your cabin, your hosts at DNR Ranch will help you and your family customize the vacation experience of a lifetime!

The ranch’s flexible rates, vacation package plans, and ‘a la carte’ meals and activities allow you to get the most out of your vacation time and money. Check also this interesting post on a great Ranch in Tennessee, Clover Creek Ranch.

For a safe and enjoyable time away from the vacation crowds, you can experience the peace of a real Wyoming adventure… great home-cooked meals, trail rides, fly fishing, Cody cowboys and Yellowstone… they’ve got it all, just like the Twin Creek Ranch, also in Wyoming!

DNR Ranch at Rand Creek rests at the foot of Table Mountain, the gateway to the Shoshone National Forest. The family-oriented ranch is, as stated before, located in the heart of what Theodore Roosevelt termed “the most scenic 50 miles in America”. Historic Cody, Wyoming lies just 23 miles east of the ranch and Yellowstone National Park is a convenient 27 miles to the west.

Rediscover the Old West and uncover the secrets of Wyoming’s heritage – a love for people, a passion for the land, spectacular wildlife and a genuine enthusiasm for the legendary ways of life in the true Wild West.

You’re in cowboy and cowgirl country where friendliness and hospitality abound. Whether you choose horseback riding, fly fishing, hiking, or exploring on your own, at the Ranch you will have a memorable western vacation where you can kick up your cowboy boots and enjoy the place they all call “HOME”.
